It was a beautiful day for perching in my 5th-floor
window. Maddie opened the window just a little and let me sniff through the screen. I smelled coffee from the corner shop, dogs, sweaty kids on the school track next door, dogs, bus exhaust from the street below, dogs, and a little bit of crisp refreshing winter air. I loved the blue sky and the sunshine. I was about ready to settle in for a nice nap in the window, but Maddie started to mop the floors. I was needed, of course, for a supervisory role and had to leave my perch.
